A Real Testimonial About ThunderJack AC/DC Tribute Band

Marc D:

"I normally don’t post much and rarely comment on purchases I make or shows I watch ...But I wanted to comment on how much I actually enjoyed this band.

Short story they were on a cruise ship as part of the entertainment ... being a rabid AC/DC fan, I had to watch but admittedly had low expectations.  They came out and looked the part (bass player nailed the movement of Cliff). Drummer. Damn. I mean. Excellent. “Malcolm” (“Steve”) did what Malcom does. So that leaves two key elements.

The singer looks like Brian but belts it out like Bon and actually I was pleased say to most of the songs were from the Bon era (more below).  That leaves “Angus.” Big shoes to fill. I was very pleased. The movements, the back and forth of left/right feet tapping. Good stuff ....(yup. Even the school boy outfit and occasional devil horns and of course ... nailing the duck walk)

So here we are on a cruise ship and they have a set with an audience of maybe 50 ... “Brian/Bon” hamming it up with audience and “Angus” doing so too.  Show ends. I’m pretty happy. Turns out next day they play all Back in Black (as heard on album) and it was great. Followed by classic Bon and Brian era classics. Ending with, of course, For Those About To Rock.

All good. End of shows. After the show I say a quick hi and tell them I enjoyed it and though I didn’t stay it was clear they were taking pix with crowd and speaking to fans.  So now it gets interesting. Because of Hurricane Dorian we all get stuck on ship longer. So whatever deal they had to make, they agreed to two more shows. So hell yes I went again.

All of them played amazingly but the drummer and bass player really shined for me (not to take away from the others). They interact with their fans. They play as close to the real thing as you can get and I had to remind myself these are real people. They are not actors playing air-guitar or fake drums. These guys nailed it!

I’ll never see them again as they seem to be a FL/Carolina area gig and I’m in the Seattle area but if you get a chance and are an AC/DC fan I highly recommend them ....I literally just got off the ship in New Orleans (we were supposed to return to Miami) which clearly disrupted me and my family as we have to figure out how to get home, deal with kids missing school and wife and I missing work and a stranded rental car sitting in Miami under my name.  But it disrupted THEM too. I am sure they had major inconveniences as a result too and I say that to remind myself that, again, this disrupted them surely as well. But on stage they did what they do best.

So. Boys, if you are reading this. Thank you from a new fan ...thanks for the extra shows. Thanks for making the shows enjoyable and for the extra two at the end ...."

LATER SAME DAY....

"I won’t keep posting (but I’ve got time to waste at a new airport) so I’ll add that I told my wife I felt like a groupie (...too old to be a groupie) but told her “I need to see them again” ...

So thanks for reading this. Thanks for the replies. Really great stuff but back to the point of you being real people, I hope you are all safe on the way back and that all is safe in the area you live (I think I saw Orlando area on your website). Hopefully the storm avoids you all and prayers for all of Florida and the East Coast. Whatever small tribulations we faced, it pales to what some folks have experienced in the Bahamas and potentially those on the coast. So God speed.

And since we visit Orlando for all those touristy things a dad with two young children love, at least after seeing a mouse or Harry Potter I can tell my wife, you put them to bed....I’m going to see ThunderJack!!"

LATER SAME DAY....

"Thanks again. I’m not an artist but I assume every musical artists dream is to perform before a huge crowd ... but the small venue was awesome and more importantly it allowed me to really see the talent you ALL have. I don’t want to keep repeating myself but I told my wife “these guys are good. I mean damn good...”. (She likes country music so brushed off my praise). By the end of the second show (the full Back in Black show) I kept telling her all about it. I was as jazzed up as when I first saw AC/DC 30 years ago! The musical talent you all possess is really strong and while you may not have played in front of mega crowds I want you to know I enjoyed every song and was really paying attention and have deep respect for your talents. You’re not a tribute band your more like the twins of AC/DC ....

Ok well. Back on the next plane so I’ll stop. God bless you all. Safe travels home."
